School Performance

Mercia School's academic record is exceptional, with both pupil progress and attainment ranking amongst the very best in England. A thorough dataset outlining our results can be found on the government’s website here

You can compare all schools' and colleges' performance here.

GCSE: Progress 8:

Progress 8 (all pupils):

2022-23 2023-24
+2.23 (England: -0.03) +2.09 (England: -0.03)

The 2022-23 figure placed us 3rd in England and meant pupils at Mercia made over 2 full grades more progress than the peers in an ‘average’ English secondary school. The 2023-24 data showed a similar picture.

Progress 8 (disadvantaged pupils):

2022-23 2023-24
+2.18 (England non-disadvantaged: +0.17) +2.12 (England non-disadvantaged +0.16)

Pleasingly, there was no gap between our disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged cohorts in either 2022-23 or 2023-24. Our disadvantaged progress data was the best in England in 2022-23.

GCSE: Attainment 8 and EBACC

Attainment 8 scores:

2022-23 2023-24
70.14 (England: 46.3) 69.39 (England: 45.9)

This means that the average grade achieved by Mercia pupils was Grade 7 in both 2022-23 and 2023-24.

EBACC Average Point Score: 6.95 (England average: 4.05)

2022-23 2023-24
6.95 (England: 4.05) 6.91 (England: 4.07)

This means, on average, pupils achieve Grade 7 in the EBACC suite of subjects in both 2022-23 and 2023-24. 100% of our pupils are entered for EBACC (English, Maths, Science, Geography/History, French).

GCSE: English and Maths (Basics)

Grade 5 in English and Maths:

2022-23 2023-24

Grade 4 in English and Maths:

2022-23 2023-24
